We got some heavy news that's hitting the community hard right out of the gate in 2026.

Savage Race, the beast of an OCR series we've all raved about for its killer obstacles, top-notch production, and that unbeatable camaraderie, just dropped a bombshell: slashing their schedule dramatically, canceling 10 of their 13 planned events and consolidating down to just three flagship races—Florida Spring, Florida Fall, and Georgia Fall.

While they're offering refunds and transfers to ease the sting, it's a sad day for anyone who's ever conquered a Savage course.

This shake-up hits the entire OCR scene, signaling potential challenges ahead for the sport's growth and accessibility in the US.

Savage has long been a cornerstone, drawing in new blood with its approachable yet brutal events and fostering a tight-knit community of everyday warriors and elites alike. With fewer options on the calendar, it could mean longer travel for many, higher demand on remaining races like Spartan or Tough Mudder, and a spotlight on whether OCR as a whole, needs to adapt to shifting participation trends.

For our crew, it's a reminder of how fragile these event brands are and how much work and money it takes to keep them going, but it also opens doors for local organizers and hybrid events to step up and keep the fire alive.

Heading into the season, let's channel this setback into straight-up motivation.

OCR and its participants thrive on resilience. So let's rally around those 3 Savage survivors if you're in striking distance; snag tickets early, bring the energy, and make the event a blast.

Diversify your race lineup, support emerging series and events, and keep the community chats positive and buzzing with support.

The sport's not fading, it's evolving, and we're the ones who will shape its comeback.

It’s a year to double down on what makes OCR special and put out more of what you guys enjoy.
Expect more Instagram bangers, YouTube content & prediction contests.

On YouTube I’ll be dropping 1-2 videos a month, with topics coming up like: “The State of OCR in 2025”, “The Hardest Spartan Ultra’s in 2025” and learner videos on how all these federations and organizations and series and brands fit together.

For that Prediction Contest. You all saw some of these last year. But things are getting more streamlined now. With the biggest and most stacked events being focused on. And we got, PRIZES!
It’s more than just bragging rights this year.
Each prediction contest will have a prize for the top spot. And then an overall winner for the year.

Takeaway: I’m honestly surprised OCR was this high. While we’ve had people yelling that “OCR is dying” and “people are heading to Hyrox and skipping OCR these days”, what I found is that the followers I’ve got on Instagram are still heavy into OCR and still going strong with it into 2026.
And I’m stoked about it 🤘
